Window screen FAQ
Answers on measuring, mesh choice, shipping and returns for custom window screens.
Measuring
Do I need a standard-size window for this to work?
No. We cut to the exact width and height you give us — including out-of-square and non-standard openings.
How do I measure a window for a replacement screen?
Measure the opening the screen sits inside (not the glass). Take three readings for width and three for height, and use the smallest.
My readings vary by nearly a quarter inch. Is my window broken?
Not at all — that is normal settling. Use the smallest reading so the screen seats without buckling.
Should I round my measurement up or down?
Round down to the nearest 1/16 inch so the screen fits inside the channel.
Materials
What is the strongest mesh if I have a cat or dog?
Pet-resistant vinyl-coated polyester (our PP line) resists claws far better than standard fiberglass.
Can solar screen really lower my cooling bill?
A solar mesh cuts a meaningful share of incoming heat on west- and south-facing windows.
Fiberglass or aluminum — which should I choose?
Fiberglass is the easy default; aluminum is stiffer and longer-lived but can dent.
Can I change the mesh without replacing the frame?
Yes — we can rebind an existing frame with new mesh if the frame is still sound.
Ordering & delivery
How long does a custom screen take to ship?
Production is typically a few business days after we confirm your measurements; final timing is confirmed per order.
What if it doesn’t fit?
Send the readings and a photo of the opening — we will sort out a remake or adjustment.
